In 2010, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) collaborated with Multimedia Video Production to create an extensive online eLearning, diagnostic, and research tool to teach users the MBSImP process of swallowing function and impairment assessment and use those skills to capture and organize real-world patient data. This custom eLearning system features 73 embedded fluoroscopy videos accompanied by an equal number of original 3D medical animations modeled and animated by MVP. The videos and animations display together to the full array of the most common swallowing disorders. Users can view these videos frame-by-frame, synchronize them with the 3D animations, and compare them with other degrees of the same swallowing impairment. Multimedia Video Production also developed the accompanying testing area for clinicians. This eLearning platform is also utilized by clinicians to document patient diagnosis and treatment outcomes. The information can be combined and sorted in almost limitless ways for further swallowing impairment research based on demographics and other data. Multimedia Video Production hosts the eLearning platform along with its information on its own HIPAA-compliant servers to ensure patient privacy.
